My Boys

This picture is a little blurry, because there's a lot of action going on--Logan is administering one of his bear hugs, which involves a lot of movement and grunting. End result:

(if daddy looks tired, it's because he just wrestled a bear)

First Day!

(lining up to go inside--Annie's teacher is the lady in the spotted shirt)

Annie's first day of Kindergarten was the 25th of August. She was SOOOOO excited to get going with school! Ryan and I are so proud of her, and grateful that she is eager to learn (instead of being one of the kids screaming bloody murder at drop-off).

The only drawback to our schedule is being in the afternoon session, so all morning long I get to hear: "when is my kindergarten?", "did we miss my kindergarten today?", "mom, are we late yet?"
The nice thing is leisurely strolls to the school, and being in the same session (although different class) with a cutie from our ward.

(young minds eager to learn! Annie's 1st day clothing provided by Angie)

Winding Down

I've felt that familiar end-of-summer rush that a lot of parents have been blazing through, where you feel like you have to fill that last week of summer freedom to the brim with activity.

It has been fun to visit the zoo, and go to Cherry Creek Lake--it's exciting for me to say that we have a beach 10 minutes from our house! And, of course, it has been fun and exhausting to have our home be the social hub of all persons under 4 feet tall on our street. Good times (and yay for fall)!

Howdy Y'all

If you chance to see Logan or Annie this summer, odds are this is pretty much what they'll be looking like. We've adopted a cowboy-ness. It's a good look for these kids and their daddy, since cowboy runs in their veins (me, not so much. My mom had horses growing up, but it was more of a "my father is a doctor" kind of situation than "gotta get them cows milked" kind of thing.)

Welcome Spring!

This is how Colorado does it! Yesterday, we were playing outside enjoying the sunshine. Today, we are enjoying the sunshine in our snow garb. The madness started last night with blinding ferocity, and in a matter of hours Denver was pretty much closed for business. At least we have daddy home today, so he can lend his genius to our snowman-making skills (the face was all Ryan--complete with rope mouth and pill bottle nose.)

Happy Spring everyone!

This is what we signed up for

This morning, I got to spend some wonderful time at the spa! It was a fabulous gift from my loving husband, and I have been looking forward to getting pampered before a date night out with friends. Ryan has been working weekends for aWHiLE, so I was pretty excited to get some face time with him. Logan, however, had other plans. We'd noticed our toilet was acting funky, and while I was helping Logan in the bathroom, he said, "Mommy, my pink-wen in the potty". Say what now? To make a long story short:

You can see the "pink-wen" perpetrator on the floor. In mob-like fashion, Ryan broke both of his arms off as punishment...

I was bummed I had to call the babysitter and tell her that instead of going on a date, we were going to Home Depot. Oh, well. We are parents and we are homeowners, and this is our life now :)

Not Here, then Back Again

I've said before that not having pictures makes me feel mute when it comes to the blog, and I'm sayin' it again! I went to my stash of photos from the past month, and found a lotta this:

This is how most of Christmas was documented. I'm just so glad I wasn't paying for film to be developed! But, at least I now have an extensive collection of Logan's little fingers--which I guess is kind of the modern take on the old porcelain handprint wall-hanging!
